Tile Master

How much tile do I need? Measure the room, or type the area you already know. Type the coverage on the box. Nothing here looks up a price or a store rate.

Units

One unit for the whole job. Do not mix feet with meters.

Area
Box coverage required

Type the coverage printed on the box. This field starts empty on purpose. Calculate stays off until coverage and area are both greater than zero.

Waste

Straight lay is often planned at 10%. Diagonal or herringbone is often planned at 15 to 20%. The field starts at 10 so a straight lay can be calculated right away. Raise it if the tile will be set on a diagonal or in a herringbone.

Mortar and grout optional

Leave these blank unless you already have a rate. A blank field is not a guess. No mortar or grout number is shown, and no rate such as 5 kg per square meter is filled in for you.

Enter a coverage greater than zero and an area greater than zero.

FAQ

How much tile do I need?

Area times (1 + waste), divided by the coverage printed on the box, rounded up to whole boxes.

How much extra tile for cuts?

Straight lay is often planned at 10%. Diagonal or herringbone is often 15 to 20%. That is a planning allowance, not a measured offcut from your room.

Why whole boxes?

Stores sell whole boxes. The unrounded count is shown too.

Does this include mortar and grout?

Only if you type a rate. The app does not invent kg per m².

What does this not include?

Price, tile thickness, and a second layout. Feet and meters are separate modes and are not mixed.
